At WB Manufacturing, we believe that sustainability is the key to a healthy future! That’s why we’re always looking for new ways to become more environmentally friendly. Watch the video or read on to check out some of the green initiatives we’ve already implemented to foster positive change in our community and environment.

1. Utilizing 21st-century nesting optimization automation software.

The software allows us to arrange individual parts in the most efficient manner, minimizing waste and making the most out of our raw materials. By doing so, we save money (passing those savings along to our customers) while also becoming more sustainable. It’s a win-win situation that benefits both our bottom line and the planet!

2. Turning excess waste into bedding for local farms.

Excess waste is ground into sawdust right in the production area, with an additional hopper available for other departments. The sawdust is then blown directly into a semi-trailer and transported to a local farm. Waste becomes livestock bedding that is biodegradable and provides comfort. Comfy cows are happy cows and produce more milk! Happy cows come from Wisconsin!

3. Using recycling bins throughout the facility.

Our facility has designated bins for recycling colored paper, white paper, metal and cardboard. When the cardboard bins are full, the cardboard is pressed into bales and is then picked up and recycled locally.

4. Installed filtered water dispensers.

We currently have six water dispensers located throughout our facility, which helps us reduce plastic waste. We also designed custom water bottles to encourage staff to reuse and stay hydrated during the day. To date, over 200,000 plastic bottles have been eliminated!

5. Installed energy-efficient lights.

We made the switch to energy-efficient lights on our 200,000 sq. ft. plant and motion-activated LED lighting in our office areas. Because of this change, we reduced usage by 54% and significantly lowered energy bills. We also voluntarily participate in the peak load lighting conservation program with the local utility company!

6. Invested in electric forklifts.

A major benefit of utilizing electric forklifts is reducing our gas emissions. We have also installed electric charging stations throughout the premises, making it convenient for our employees to charge the forklifts when needed. This change not only helps to reduce emissions but also ensures that our forklifts are always ready for use.

7. Reusing and recycling our pallets.

Pallets of all sizes reduce shipping space! By reusing and recycling our pallets, we are contributing to a more sustainable future by reducing waste and conserving natural resources.

8. Reduced the size and printed less of our full catalog.

In an effort to become more environmentally conscious and reduce our carbon footprint, we reduced the size and printed fewer copies of our full catalog. As an alternative to the printed catalog, we are now encouraging our customers to use our digital catalog. View our online catalog now to get the most up-to-date product information!
